Playing with your pet is such a joy! But, in the summer, there is a fine line between having fun and causing your pet to overheat, especially if they’re exceptionally fluffy. This doesn’t mean that you can’t still enjoy one another’s company, however. On hot days, it may simply mean that playtime needs to be modified to ensure that your pet remains as comfortable as possible.

Icy Treat Hunts
You may already enjoy treasure hunts with your pet. But what about doing them with some frozen and deliciously refreshing treats? Freezing bananas, strawberries and even their wet food, and hiding it around your home or yard helps you train their brain, while making sure their body temperature remains under control.

Sprinkler Play
For a pet that loves water, set up a sprinkler or shallow kiddie pool in your yard for them to splash around in. As they can get excited, however, be sure to set this up in a shady part of your yard to avoid the harshness of the sun (and potential sunburn). This can help them burn energy safely and even doubles as bathtime!
Frozen Toy Fun
Durable feeder toys, like those found in the Kong Range, can be frozen. Filling it with wet food or wet treats the night before and freezing it creates a makeshift icy pole that can keep them refreshingly occupied for hours. This also works their brain while keeping them cool, as they need to figure out new ways for their food to dispense from their favourite toy. Try to set this toy up in the shade, over a cooling mat (if possible) for maximum coolness.
Shaded Puzzle Fun
